Volunteer Membership
Volunteering in the fire department is a unique experience that can be as rewarding and educational as you choose to make it. Motivation, dedication and professionalism are qualities that successful volunteers must possess. Members of the Newport Fire Company not only possess these qualities, but are continuously seeking to further their knowledge and skills as well.
Some of the benefits available to volunteers:
  • Free Fire/EMS Training-Some training is College credit equivalent
  • Free uniforms
  • Fitness equipment use including treadmill and weight center
  • Work from the firehouse while you volunteer! High speed Internet access
  • Bunkroom
  • Township Stipend (must meet certain township requirements)
  • Opportunity to make a difference and give back to the community!
Basic Requirements:
  • Minimum age of 14 years old
  • Complete application which includes a background investigation
  • Attend Department sponsored training sessions and meetings
  • Complete basic training requirements during your probationary period

Firefighters, Driver only, Associate, and EMS only:
Members of the Newport Fire company are expected to participate on a regular basis within the limits of their personal schedules. Firefighters must meet monthly drill requirements, as well as participate in scheduled events and assist with general station duties when available. EMS members are required to meet monthly duty crew requirements, as well as participate in scheduled events and assist with general station duties when on duty.

Junior Firefighters:
Are you between the ages of 16 and 18? Have you ever wondered what itís like to be a firefighter? Join other high school students who are members of our junior firefighter program to find out. With proper training, you can respond to emergency incidents side by side with our volunteer firefighters. You will need to obtain your parent's consent before completing the application. All required classes are made available at no cost to members and have varying schedules to accommodate most people.

Donít want to ride the trucks, battle a fire, or wrestle a hose, but still want to serve. We have administrative volunteer opportunities too.
